The history of high heeled shoes

High heeled shoes were worn centuries ago. They were wooden soled and were interestingly traced back to Persian horse riders who used heels for functionality to help hold their feet in stirrups, features that are similar to today's riding boots. They did not become mainstream until royals started to wear them. High heels have fallen in and out of popular fashion trends since the second world war. Today high heels are very popular and can range in height from 1.5 inches to over 6 inches.
