Spa Visits Aren’t Just for Special Occasions

Years ago, I began treating myself to spa visits.  With a fast-paced career and children, life can get ahead of us all and it is important to carve out time for oneself, but does it always have to be labeled a treat?  Can women incorporate luxury or a spa visit into our lives on a regular basis?  I believe we can and my trips to DMV (the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia metropolitan area) area spas are part of my testimony to the benefits of a spa visit and a note on how intentionally focusing on relaxation, beauty, and health can optimize woman's life.

Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, one of my first DMV spa visits was to The Red Door Salon and Spa.  As a member of the historic Elizabeth Arden brand, The Red Door Salon and Spa provided me a remarkable standard of service that met the brand’s reputation.  With services that included massage therapy, facials, manicures, pedicures, and more, this full-service salon was a space where I was able to relax internally and externally. With an interior reminiscent of a luxury dressing room, retail store, and up-scale salon, the decorum added to the comfort I experienced in the spa – it seemed as if all of the resources I needed were within reach.

In the tranquil private message service room, I was provided with a plush robe prior to the start of my service which was tailored to my specific needs.  The message and facial services were performed by a professional who struck an ideal balance between a tailored service including questions and consultation, and enough silence for me to drift off into relaxation.

Although the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas (which transitioned into the Mynd Salon and Spa which closed as a result of the pandemic) now cease to exist, such exceptional services and treatment are available at a number of salons and spas in the DMV area and abroad.  Professional working women and mothers do not have to wait for a special occasion to treat themselves or to experience the benefits of a spa.  As the caretakers of many and bears of great responsibility, women should experience spa services as a means of combating stress and all of the ailments that it can bring while also celebrating oneself because we are worth it.

As facilities attempt to open safely and companies recover during the pandemic, Positively Posh by Cheryl will feature relaxation activities that can be incorporated into the lives of women for optimal lifestyles and wellness.
