The Bottom of the Purse: Hot Beauty Items to Add to Your Big or Small Bag

The bottom of a woman’s purse can be a very interesting place. For over 20 years my purse has been filled with mom items, work items, receipts, change, and more. Often as I rummage through my bag or make a switch from one bag to another, I come across items that represent distinct moments and memories that have made me feel good, and that observation has encouraged me to share more about what I store in my purse that represents intentional (and sometimes incidental) purchases that have increased happiness in my life. Each month, Positively Posh by Cheryl will do a dump and description that I call, simply, the bottom of my purse and this month’s share is all about the beauty items I aspire to add to my bag.

Following a recent switch from a tote to a baguette bag, I recognized how many items I was carrying that I did not actually need (such a metaphor for life). When I realized that I was carrying much more than I needed to in my daily life I took an inventory of the items that were a necessity and those that I really enjoyed as part of my beauty regimen. From my lip moisturizer to my lotion, and travel-sized perfume, I was reminded of the beauty products that I deem essential and began to explore new items that I would like to add. Here are a few of the lightweight beauty items that I intend to add to the bottom of my purse which are small enough to be carried in transition from a tote to a baguette bag and anywhere between.

A mechanical brow pencil -there is nothing like trying to get the correct eyebrow shade and shape on the go, so when I came across the Charlotte Tilbury Browlift pencil I had to add it to my list.  With an angled application brush, cream-based brow tint, and spoolie brush all in one, this type of brush can definitely help when I downsize my inner purse pocket makeup load.   .

Retinol-based under-eye patches- as a health care professional and a mother, my days can be exceedingly long at times and I have long wanted something to give my face an energetic appearance.  Consequently, I recently discovered the benefits of under-eye patches.  A brand of under-eye patches that perform quickly, contain the wrinkle-reducing benefits of retinol, and come in a small package fit for any purse is Shiseido’s Benefiance Wrinkle Resist24 Pure Retinol Express Smoothing Eye Mask.

An edge styler brush- as a medical professional I often wear hair coverings and frequently switch facial masks which often disrupt my hair and the way that my edges were laying when I left the salon, thus I intend to invest in an edge brush. Small enough to fit in my purse or work bag, the Edge Tool from Pattern has 3 features (a brush, comb, and pointed tail-end) that can quickly help me refine my edges at work or on the go.

While the bottom of my purse is ever a changing receptacle for what the day brings, I realized that I can be intentional about enjoying my handbags from what is inside to what appears on the outside and so can you!
